The 26-year-old took to social media on Thursday evening to share a message of gratitude to Brugge after spending the 2019/20 season on loan in Belgium from Premier League side Brighton Hove Albion.
"I'd like to take this moment to say thank you to the players, technical team, entire staff and supporters for a successful loan spell @ClubBrugge, I thank you," Tau tweeted.
Later in the evening, Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Rhulani Mokwena replied to Tau's post and seemingly dropped a hint that his next move has already been decided, although there has been no confirmation as to where that might be at this stage.
The Witbank-born forward played a hand in 12 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions for Brugge, scoring four and assisting a further eight, and featured prominently in the club's UEFA Champions League campaign this season.
