Pep Guardiola reserves word of praise for Brighton & Hove Albion star Percy Tau

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola reserved a word of praise for Percy Tau following his side's Premier League clash against Brighton Hove Albion earlier this week.

Guardiola was speaking to the media following his City's narrow 1-0 win over Brighton on Wednesday when he magnanimously praised Seagulls boss Graham Potter for the manner in which his side had performed at the Etihad Stadium.

"We were in front of the best English manager right now," the former FC Barcelona boss said, according to Brighton Hove Independent. "You have to be a top side to play that way. I am more than delighted to [have possession of] the ball, most of the time in the game.

Guardiola was also left impressed by the performances of a number of Brighton players, including Bafana Bafana star Tau who was making his first-ever appearance in the competition.

"The quality they have, they show it. They have good players, good build-up. The two central defenders, [Lewis] Dunk and [Adam] Webster, are fantastic," the Spaniard added.

"Every pass makes sense. Their movement between the lines up front makes sense. Every player is in his position to get the ball and be free [and] the people up front are so fast, with [Percy] Tau, [Neal] Maupay, until the last minute."

Wednesday's result has left Brighton just two points above the relegation zone heading into this weekend's crunch clash against Leeds United, while City are four points behind league leaders Manchester United with a game in hand.
