His club, Aarhus GF, confirmed that the 26-year-old underwent a scan this past weekend, which has rendered him unavailable for the final three matches of the Danish Superliga season.
A statement on Aarhus' official website confirmed: "Gift Links is set to undergo a minor procedure.
"Gift Links missed Sunday’s match in Herning against FC Midtjylland and will also be unavailable for the final three Superliga matches of the season.
"It has now been confirmed that the wing-back has sustained an injury which will require a small procedure.
"A scan conducted before Sunday’s game revealed a minor issue, which will now be addressed so that Gift Links can be ready for the start of next season, when he is expected to be fully fit again."
Links will not be able to add to his tally of four goals and three assists from 28 appearances in all competitions.
The South African joined Aarhus from Cape Town City in 2019 in a deal worth €800,000 (approximately R16 million), according to Transfermarkt.
