Peseiro 'not paid' for months amid Pitso & Riveiro Zamalek links

With speculation surrounding Jose Peseiro's future with Zamalek SC, reports emerging from Egypt now claim that the former Nigeria boss has not received his salary for several months.

It has been reported that the club's board members are currently engaged in discussions to decide whether the Portuguese manager should leave before the end of the 2024/25 Egyptian Premier League season.

The 65-year-old coach signed an 18-month contract with Zamalek in February of this year, which implies he was expected to remain with the White Castle until the end of the next campaign.

However, circumstances quickly deteriorated as the seasoned manager faced considerable difficulties, including a defeat to Stellenbosch in the CAF Confederation quarterfinals.

In light of his departure rumours, a report from Mwlana.com has noted that Peseiro has not received his salaries for March,April, and May. The coach is reportedly earning $70,000 (R1.2 million) per month.

The report has indicated that the former Nigeria national team coach could demand his reportedly unpaid salary if the team opts to terminate his contract, as he is not willing to leave.

With Peseiro appears poised to leave Zamalek, it seems the opportunity is open for Pitso Mosimane, who is rumoured to be one of the top candidates to take over the team's coaching role.

Orlando Pirates' outgoing coach Jose Reveiro has also been cited as a possible successor for the well-traveled Peseiro.
