Ngezana keeps Chiefs in the money

Siyabonga Ngezana is headed for another upward projection in the next transfer window after successfully defending the Romanian league title with FCSB.

FCSB were confirmed as champions prior to their eighth match of the Championship Play-Offs and were putting icing on the cake by the time they won 2-0 at Universitatea Cluj on Sunday evening.

As has been the case for most of his time at the club, Ngezana played from start to finish in what was his 72nd appearance for the club since he joined at the beginning of last season.

Impressive about the 27-year-old in this championship round is that he has played every minute of the last seven games without any yellow card.

Then, for Kaizer Chiefs, they will be watching with eyes wide open what happens next with transfer interest in Ngezana to be revived during the off-season.

There have been eyes on him from French and Belgian clubs, while English Championship interest has also come up.

If that move away from the 1986 European champions materializes in the next window, there will be a marked increase in his value compared to what he cost when he left Naturena two years ago.

The transfer to the Romanian champions was in the region of R11 million, but that will now be at least five times more should he move in the next window.

Ngezana’s valuation is now up to over R55 million having been a regular at FCSB and gotten to play in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers and Europa League group stage and Last 16.

Since moving to FCSB, he has also broken into the Bafana Bafana squad, earning seven caps in the last 12 months.

Chiefs have a 10% sell-on benefit for the towering defender.

FCSB will play in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League qualifiers in July.
