Mamelodi Sundowns team scout: "Its a great move for Tau"

Tau completed a blockbuster move to Al Ahly to reunite with former Sundowns mentor Pitso Mosimane.

The 26-year-old's move to Egypt has received a mixed reception from fans after leaving one of the top leagues in Europe to return to Africa.

Mogale has now backed Tau's decision as he will be more valued than he was in Europe.

"It's a great move for Tau," Mogale tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"At Brighton, he wasn't playing regularly as their coaches didn't believe in him.

"I'm happy for Percy to have joined Al Ahly, I think it's a great move."

Mogale added that challenging for titles in Egypt will be more beneficial to the attacker's development.

"Look you can't compare," Mogale added.

"Al Ahly are a great African giant playing in the CAF Champions League and now they're going to play in the FIFA Club World Cup.

"While Brighton do not even feature in Europe's Europa League. The problem with us Africans is we tend to respect these Europeans and undermine ourselves.

"I think Percy made a good move to join Al Ahly. I'm very proud of him. he's a hard worker and lives a good clean lifestyle, so that's a plus with him.

"I personally know Percy Tau better than those European coaches. We brought Percy Tau to Sundowns in 2010. It was myself with Harris Choeu and Walter Steenbok and since then the boy hasn't let us down."
