Yaya closing in on 'big' move in Europe

Bafana Bafana midfielder Sphephelo Sithole is closing-in on a 'big' move at the end of the season, his agent Manuel Tomas has revealed.

Sithole has grown in leaps and bounds since he was thrust into the Bafana spotlight by head coach Hugo Broos and following his impressive showing at the Africa Cup of Nations, where Broos' charges clinched a bronze medal, the 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from Portuguese Second Division side Tondela.

Despite playing a starring role in South Africa exceeding expectations at the AFCON, Tomas, speaking exclusively to KickOff, believes Sithole can actually do even much better if he moves to a better league.

"I think if he's in a better league he can make more (perform better) because he has qualities to do more. Now he's in a lower league in Portugal, we need to refresh his career," Tomas told this publication, exclusively.

The Portugal-based agent, of Blueprivate Investiments Lda, went on and revealed that they will definitely have "big news" regarding Sithole's next move in the summer.

"At Belenenses, they got relegated and this is not good for him. So, now Yaya wants to refresh his career and for sure in the summer we will have big news. For sure, we're working on that everyday," he revealed.

"We have approaches, not offers, and very serious approaches. I won't tell which (clubs), but they like him a lot. His experience (in Europe), I think, creates big opportunities for him and we're working on that," added Tomas.

With the 25-year-old's contract at Tondela only expiring next year in June, Tomas did not want to reveal the names of the teams that have approached him for the Bafana midfielder's services but confirmed, when pressed, that they are in the top three European leagues.

"Yes, the approaches are from the toppest (highest) European leagues, yes," he said.

Sithole has been linked with clubs in the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A.
