South Africa U-23 head coach David Notoane has named a strong local-based national team camp as part of their preparations for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
Amid the logistical nightmares of the Covid-19 pandemic, Notoane has opted to work with domestic-based players for his latest camp in eThekwini from 21 to 29 March.
In preparation for the summer Olympic showpiece in Japan between 23 July and 8 August, five Bafana Bafana internationals have been selected and offering experience to a talented crop of players.
Kaizer Chiefs trio Reeve Frosler is amongst the senior internationals, whilst his club teammates Happy Mashiane and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo were rewarded for their impressive form this season with call-ups too.
"We would have loved to have our overseas-based players but that was hindered by Covid-19 regulations," Notoane said ahead of the camp.
"The aim of this camp is to bring the local group together and assess them, especially those who are new in the set-up like Ashley Du Preez of Stellenbosch FC.
"We further want to sort out our centre back position and make sure that when the time comes for selection, we are ready."
