The former Bloemfontein Celtic and Chippa United striker has been somewhat of a surprise package this season as the Dube Birds also signed other new strikers at the start of the season.
Gamildien, who has three caps with the national team from COSAFA competitions, has netted 10 times for Swallows this season.
"I am very excited because I've been given an opportunity to represent the country," Gamldien tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"Obviously it wasn't by luck because I've been putting in the performances. I've been given an opportunity so now I need to show what I can do and hopefully have a good performance and stay in the team.
"It's not the first time I've been selected but I have to see what tactics the coach [Molefi Ntseki] wants to introduce and do the best of my ability, and hopefully he sees that and gives me a chance."
Gamildien was asked if being included in the team proves he is a quality player who is just underrated in South Africa.
"Maybe there's something I bring that someone else doesn't bring so I can't say that means I'm a quality player or whatever," he replies.
"Maybe it's just my turn to get the opportunity. What I'm bringing, it's definitely goals, definitely. Ja obviously we have a goalscoring problem in our country, but myself and Bradley [Grobler], we are trying to push and show the country that there are still goalscorers."
