Robson Muchicha: Give Samir Nurkovic, Gaston Sirino Bafana Bafana chance

Muchichwa holds both Zimbabwe and South Africa citizenship and represented The Warriors on the international stage.

The former flying winger says he would have loved to represent Bafana Bafana when he was tearing up PSL defence in his prime.

"Definitely my brother, definitely!" Muchichwa tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"It's like representing England... I mean they've got everything you know, all the football. So yeah for me that thing didn't happen but you can't change it you know."

Muchichwa was asked if it is time for Nurkovic and Sirino to be roped into the South African national team setup following another failure to qualify for a major tournament.

"So your question goes back to development. There's no money being poured into development. You can't expect miracles my brother whereby a boy who has never played for the U-17, U-20, U-23... all of a sudden he's playing for a [senior] national team without international experience," he explains.

"Even the selection, I don't know what it's based on. You leave a person who can fit in for a person who is not ready. Yes, you do need one or two foreign players because most of these countries do the same thing. Even England itself, most of their players they are not from there.

"That route, maybe it can work if we can mix up. It's time we swallow the pride and try to accommodate these foreign players... there are also players in Africa who are dying to play for South Africa.

"So players in South Africa need to realise all the opportunities they are having. Like now Zimbabwe have qualified but they are not even playing the league, there's nothing happening there, everything is zero. They would die for such opportunities."
