With coach Owen Da Gama set to announce his final 23-man squad on Thursday, the 18-year old from Ajax Cape Town has keenly alluded to his availability.
“I would love to be part of the [Under-23] team. I think this is one of the best Under-23 teams we've had in quite some time," he says.
“If you look at the players that are in at the moment, they are mostly PSL players that play week-in, week-out for their respective clubs.”
However, Coetzee concedes that the decision is entirely up to the coach on whether he's capable of helping the side in Senegal.
"Obviously I'd like to be part of the team, but it's up to the coach to decide whether I'm in or not."
Coetzee has already managed 15 international caps at senior level under Shakes Mashaba and his experience could prove a valuable asset in Da Gama's 2016 Olympic qualification hopes.
The 8-nations tournament will be hosted in Senegal between November 28 and December 14, with the top three sides automatically gaining qualification to next year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
