Percy Tau named in 40-man preliminary SA U23 squad for 2021 Tokyo Olympics

Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau has been named in David Notoane's 40-man preliminary U-23 squad for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

Tau, 27, is one of seven overaged players selected in the squad that is set to be trimmed down to a final 23-man squad during the final national team camp in June.

Notoane announced his latest list of players for the global showpiece at SAFA House in Johannesburg on Thursday afternoon and there were several surprising inclusions amongst the overaged selections.

Malepe, Mothibi Mvala and Thapelo Morena all made the squad for the 2016 Rio Olympics while Kaizer Chiefs duo Itumeleng Khune and Eric Mathoho were amongst the overaged players five years ago.
