Hugo Broos from Belgium is said to be the new favourite to take the job instead of people's choice Benni McCarthy.
According to sources, the South African Football Association wants a coach who is willing to work with Molefi Ntseki – something McCarthy might find difficult to accept.
Already one candidate Carlos Queiroz has turned down the Bafana job as he wanted to bring his own technical team.
"One of the conditions given to Carlos Queiroz was that the previous coach of Bafana Bafana, Molefi Ntseki, must be his assistant coach because SAFA don't have the money to pay the remainder of his contract," a source reveals to snl24.com/kickoff.
"The reason the Belgian coach Hugo Broos is now a favourite to take the job is because he is willing to have Ntseki as his assistant. SAFA do not have the money to pay Ntseki between R3-million to R4-million. So the best thing is to make Ntseki an assistant."
SAFA will unveil the new national team coach at a press conference this afternoon.
