Gordon Igesund analyses Molefi Ntseki sacking at Bafana Bafana

Igesund, who managed the national team from July 1, 2012 until April 30, 2014, believes the problem won't be solved by simply scratching the surface.

Asked if SAFA was right to fire the coach, Igesund said he believes Ntseki was rushed into the position.

"Look, I think Ntseki is a very good guy, he's a good up-and-coming coach, but I think he shouldn't have been given the job in the first place, he was doing well with the under-23s, under-20s and the junior teams you know," Igesund tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I think this was a very big jump for him. And of course if you are offered the job you going to take it because it's a great honour to be a national team coach. I also think he was thrown into the deep end.

"Ask if it was the right decision to get rid of Pitso [Mosimane]? Was it the right decision to get rid of Gordon Igesund? He only lost two games. Was it the right decision to get rid of Stuart Baxter?

"They must only judge a coach on official games. When coaches play friendly matches they go there not to lose or win, they go there to experiment, to try out, to give a player an opportunity. If you win, if you lose it doesn't matter.

"Don't judge coaches by friendly matches, otherwise he's going to come in there and play 10 friendlies against Mauritius, and he's going to be the best coach in the world because he's won all these friendly matches.

"So whether they were right or whether they were wrong it's not for me to say. It's not for me to judge and decide. I just think Ntseki was thrown into the deep end, I don't know if he had the people around him that he wanted to have around him."
