Darren Keet says Bafana Bafana underestimated Sudan

South Africa lost out on an opportunity to qualify for next year's Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be held in Cameroon after they choked against minnows Sudan.

Keet, who this time around did not make the team as he awaits offers from DStv Premiership clubs, says he immediately texted his Bafana teammates after the loss.

He is not sure where his teammates lost it in the recent two qualifiers.

"It's difficult to say you know because both games we could have won and both games we should have won," Keet tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I think against Ghana they got a bit of a lucky goal, we had an early injury, okay we can't blame it on that. But we came back, we put ourselves in a good position, we finished the game 1-1 which wasn't bad.

"But then you know watching the Sudan game it looked like they wanted it more than us. It wasn't going to happen... I mean we played against Sudan in the last game and we only beat them 1-0.

"Couple years ago we also played them in the qualifiers, we beat them 2-0 away, and then we beat them again here at home. So maybe we might have looked at it as an easier win you know when it shouldn't have been. We should have really asserted ourselves more."
