McCarthy has assured the club's supporters that he is not going anywhere and will remain with Usuthu this season, following the impressive foundation he has already laid.
The former Bafana striker has been linked to the coaching position vacant position, along with the likes of Eric Tinkler and Pitso Mosimane.
However, he has since re-assured the AmaZulu family that his heart is with the club and leaving Durban is far from his mind.
"My heart is here. I am very happy. I love what I do. I came in with the biggest smile on my face," McCarthy told the media ahead of the Durban Derby against Golden Arrows at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday.
"When I see my players, they give me the same joy I get when my wife sees me, when my kids see me. Whilst I have that, I am not hungry. My eyes are not bigger than my belly.
"So, I am very happy where I am. I love what I have. There will always be rumours when you do well and are successful. It's just a shame coach Mandla [Ncikazi] is not linked with the Bafana Bafana job, with what he is doing at Golden Arrows."
