Xola Mlambo likens himself to a Lamborghini after joining AmaZulu FC

Mlambo was among the top players in the PSL when he signed for Pirates in 2018 and was part of the national team conversation when Milutin Sredejovic had the Buccaneers contending for the league title.

But things went south for the ex-Bidvest Wits midfielder after 'Micho' left the club, with Mlambo unable to convince subsequent coaches Rhulani Mokwena and Josef Zinnbauer of his quality.

There were so many questions about his form and he even lost his place in the team for the majority of last season.

But speaking with the media in Durban after signing a four-year deal with AmaZulu, the 29-year-old warned opponents not to think he is done.

"Coaches have their own opinions, they have their own decisions to take," Mlambo said.

"But if I can make an example about a Lamborghini. You will never see most of them in the streets, and not most of the people will have one, but it doesn't lose its value or depreciate.

"Not being seen doesn't mean I've lost quality, it doesn't mean I'm a different person. I'm still the same Xola that people were talking about.

"I'm still the Xola that wants to win accolades, and I can still be a better Xola with a new family that I have."

Mlambo's acquisition bolsters a strong-looking Usuthu team following the club's signings of the likes of Siphiwe Tshabalala and Luvuyo Memela.
