Appollis giving up on football situation disclosed

The transfer bright lights on Oswin Appollis have come at the back of the Polokwane City having come to within a stone’s throw of being lost to football three years ago.

Appollis has excelled in the two years he has spent at Polokwane City after joining from Motsepe Foundation Championship club Pretoria Callies.

His arrival at Callies came after the misfortune of failing to break through at SuperSport United.

"Prior to joining us after being at SuperSport he had given up on football," discloses Pretoria Callies chairman Moses Malada talking to KickOff.com.

"Then we got to hear about him through coach (Kwanele) Kopo and went out to look for him.

"That was then we then asked him to reconsider football.

"Upon joining us, he started slowly but then towards the end of the season was carrying the team on his shoulders.

"As short as he is, he was our main man in the same way he has become the main man at Polokwane.

"It also goes back to his character considering the environment he comes from and how he has managed to stay discipline for the job at hand.

"We take pride in how he has progressed because that is what we stand for.

"Prior to leaving us he was wanted by Sekhukhune United and Chippa United but ended up being up at Polokwane because of the relationship we have.

"Chairman to chairman respect and having a relationship is what matters because are not amateur teams despite being in this division just under the highest league.

"We also want to sustain our teams and don’t want to work with people who disrespect us.

"With Polokwane they see us as colleagues in the same industry and not an inferior whose players should be taken using unscrupulous means," says Malada.
