The 29-year-old is a free agent after parting ways with AmaZulu in 2019 and has already tried his luck at Swallows FC and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila this off-season.
Gumede has now resurfaced at Leopards in the hope of securing a contract with the Venda-based club.
It has since emerged that Lidoda Duvha are preparing to add him to their 2020/21 DStv Premiership squad as a source at Leopards confirms the player's presence at the club.
"We played a friendly against a local team and Gumede started, he arrived on Friday. It was his first day with the team," an insider tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"He hasn't signed yet. He is still being assessed. The club is expecting another two players to join him. They are actually looking for a centre-back."
Leopards are also assessing former Kaizer Chiefs left-back Sibusiso Khumalo, ex-Golden Arrows striker Sibusiso Sibeko and former Baroka FC forward Richard Matloga.
