Da Gama details how he disapproved of players who used to take a dive every time they came into a tussle for the ball with an opponent.
"It was given to me by a guy called Kenneth Lebethe, he was the sports editor of the Pretoria News when I was playing for Pretoria Callies when we were playing at Atteridgeville Stadium.
"He gave me that name RubberDoll because you know I don't like it when a player gets injured, and you lie down and you roll and they come to put some water on your leg, and then suddenly you are 100%.
"So with me even if you injure me, I jump up quickly, and I show you that your tackle is nothing you know.
"Even if I feel the pain I jump up, I won't lie down and roll like an actor you know. If it's pain I jump up, I get treatment, and I tell you that's nothing.
"Because you know some people when they tackle you, they think now you going to be scared you know.
"So when get tackled I jumped up. I was tackled by big players abo 'Yster' Khomane, bo 'The Bull' Lehoko. Big-name players. But they tackle me I jump up.
"I don't show them it has affected my game you know. So that's where the name Rubber Doll came from."
