Unlike Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns have had less than a handful of teenage debutants since Patrice Motsepe took charge of the club in 2004.
Sundowns have been known to dominate the domestic transfer market in recent years, and this has had an adverse effect on their development output.

The club have seen a handful of players being promoted from their development setup in recent years, including the likes of Samuel Julies, Percy Tau, Motjeka Madisha, Keletso Makgalwa and most recently Promise Mkhuma, who is currently 19 but has yet to make his senior debut.
However, most of the abovementioned stars had to wait until after their 20th birthdays to make the step-up to the first team, and this could perhaps be down to the fact that the club have had some formidable senior superstars in their ranks.

Nonetheless, the club have proven to groom some incredible talents, with Tau being testament thereto, as well as Keagan Dolly, even though he was initially released to Ajax Cape Town before later returning to make a name for himself at Chloorkop.
