University of Pretoria made a positive start to the promotion/relegation play-offs following a late 1-0 win over Baroka FC on Sunday afternoon.
Delano Abrahams and Samuel Julies were brought back in by AmaTuks, while veteran Lehlohonolo Nonyane came in as the only change for Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele.
Julies squandered a golden chance past the opening ten minutes when he volleyed wide of the far corner following a perfectly weighted knockdown.
AmaTuks continued to have the majority of play and hit the upright through a powerful header from Sikhosonke Langa after a cross-field delivery moments apart.
The match became balanced towards the half-hour mark where a tremendous save from Tuks goalkeeper Edward Maova courted a speculative header from Ananias Gebhardt.
Bakgaga were still keen to push the host all the way past halftime, as Sekela Sithole dragged his effort wide of the near post after a cleverly worked reverse pass.
Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Thabang Sibanyoni looked to up the ante on the side of the host a little later and fashioned a first-time shot from range wide of the far post.
Chances continued going either way around the midway point of the half as Tshepho Mashiloane played a one-two with Sithole before firing off the side-netting from a tight angle.
The first substitution came nine minutes to the end after the visitors introduced Kagiso Selemela in the place of Sydney Malivha.
AmaTuks grew stronger within the last two minutes and took the lead when Kamogelo Pheeane ran in on the near side to get on the end of Julies' through pass and finished with aplomb.
There was no response from Dan Malesela's men and granted AmaTuks a winning start in the promotion/relegation play-offs.
