Papy Faty already jogging again after knee surgery

Faty has undergone two operations which doctors had initially predicted would force him out of football for at least a year.

“Things are looking up positively for me now,” says a jovial Faty, who damaged his ligaments and meniscus.

“I have an appointment with the doctors on Monday … that appointment will determine whether I can now go ahead and start kicking the ball again. For now I have been jogging in my running shoes and juggling the ball to help build up the balance again.

"The positive is that I don’t feel any pain anymore and it has really been a surprise because the doctors thought this kind of injury will take as much as 18 months, with each operation needing nine months.

"However, two months after my first operation I was fine and now two months after the second operation I am feeling good. I am not feeling any pain when I do any exercise.

“I should be fully recovered at the end of the year and I am sure I should be able to play 90 minutes in January. I will use the next three months to build my strength and regain fitness again,” Faty tells snl24.com/kickoff.

Because of the severity of his injury, Wits decided not to register the 24-year-old for this season and instead kept his foreign space open.
