Mako was left unconscious during Pirates' 0-0 DStv Premiership draw against Baroka FC on Tuesday after colliding with teammate Richard Ofori during the latter stages of the match.
The 28-year-old took a nasty blow to the head from the knee of Ofori who had rushed out from his box to clear a ball and required immediate medical assistance.
Pirates' medical team were quick to attend to Mako as both teammates and opponents stared on emotionally in a picture that highlighted the seriousness of the situation.
However, more than three minutes elapsed before the on-site ambulance was able to attend to the situation, with the driver having seemingly not been at his station when called upon.
"The less said about that, the better," Davids said during a post-match press conference. "There was nobody in the ambulance, then you have to find where the drivers are, I don't know if they were watching the game or what.
