No offers despite Samir Nurkovic being in Kaizer Chiefs shop window

The future of Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic remains uncertain as the Soweto giants are reportedly open to accepting transfer bids.

Nurkovic underwent an operation at the end of September to repair the meniscus in his right knee, an injury that he initially picked up on June 26 in the CAF Champions League semi-final second leg tie against Wydad Casablanca.

He held on to play 90 minutes in that match and then again in the final despite the nagging effects and played in the first five games this term before giving in ahead of the game against Marumo Gallants in September.

The 29-year-old is now doing his physiotherapy as he works towards returning early enough to play enough games in the remainder of the season with Chiefs back in action on February 15 against Cape Town City.

Chiefs have noted they remain open to a transfer for a while now though the prospect of that happening in this window is dead as Nurkovic is not yet back to fitness.

There are no offers on the table for now despite the club's willingness to consider bids.

AmaKhosi turned down offers that reached R15 million at the end of Nurkovic's first season before improving his contract which runs up at the end of the season with an option of another season.

That Chiefs will exercise the option is not guaranteed.

From the impressive first season that Nurkovic had scored 14 goals, he went down to six last season after missing the opening 14 matches due to contractual differences with the club and injury.

This season – his third at the club – has been blighted by injury again and had not scored when he underwent surgery in September.
