Nike Chance Finalist Kurt Pienaar is training with Kaizer Chiefs

Pienaar narrowly missed out on a spot at the Nike Academy last month, after being selected amongst the five Nike Chance Africa winners who travelled to Birmingham for the global showpiece. The 19-year-old midfielder is now keeping fit at Naturena in hopes of attracting interest in the PSL.

“At the moment I’m training with Chiefs’ reserve team in order to keep my fitness up,” Pienaar told snl24.com/kickoff

“I’m not sure if I’ll join them permanently, but I had started training with them last year before the Nike Chance,” he said.

Pienaar also revealed that he has sparked interest from relegation-bound Arrows, but ideally would prefer plying his trade in Mzansi’s top tier.

“I’ve been in contact with coach Shaun [Bartlett] and there might be a possibility of me joining Golden Arrows, but nothing’s confirmed yet,” he said.

Fellow South African and Nike Chance winner, Waylan Rooi, has recently jetted off to the UK to join The Nike Academy, based at St. George’s Park in Birmingham, on a provisional three-month contract.
