In this edition of My Pay Cheque, retired striker Norman Smith says he was once offered an R5000 salary by a PSL club to leave Golden Arrows.
Smith accuses club owners of being greedy and looking out for their own pockets.

"They want to get rich alone these South African football club owners," Smith tells KickOff.
"My biggest Paycheque was at Thanda Royal Zulu.
"I earned something about R50 000 a month there.
"My worst Paycheque was at Arrows, I was paid R8000 there. That was my worst!
"I didn't make any money from football, I even told these boys of mine last time they mustn't be fooled by these tracksuits you wear or appearing on television every week or whatever.
"These bosses want to get rich alone and that's it. It's not negotiable.
"I'm just thankful for someone like Patrice Motsepe who has tried to change the game of football in the country.
"I'm just glad we have a person like him.
"But the other owners it's just about them and their families finish and klaar!
"Most players in the PSL are underpaid, this is happening even today I'm telling you.
"I'm telling you even now you get a salary of R5000 in the PSL currently.
"You must remember as a young boy you are desperate you want to be signed; you want the opportunity you want the chance.
"So, people can play with you whichever way they like. They just throw any stupid numbers at you.
"If you don't take it they show you the door.
"They tell you straight they can get someone else. It happened to me. I won't mention names.
"But someone wanted me while I was there at Arrows, but he wanted to give me a stupid salary.
"He wanted to give me less than what I got at Arrows that time. And I told him 'You are crazy'.
"He said to me he'd rather go and take two of his under - 19 boys and pay them both with that kind of money.
"I said 'go and take them!'
