Maritzburg suffered their first league loss of the season at the hands of Amakhosi at the same venue last week, leaving Fadlu Davids' side in sixth spot on the table with eight points from five games.
However, Mekoa, who attracted the attention of Mamelodi Sundowns last term, is confident the Team of Choice can bounce back against 14th-placed Ea Lla Koto.
The 24-year-old feels the current side is the best the club has had in his four seasons with the Premiership outfit.
“I’m not disappointed, you could see how the guys were pushing in the second half, but unfortunately we couldn’t score against Chiefs,” Mekoa told United's website.
“These things happen in football. We tried, we pushed, everyone did their best. For the next game we’ll just have to increase our efforts even more so we can stay on top. I think we’re playing good football and I’m happy with the team.
“We’ll learn from [the Chiefs match] and take it to our next game against Free State Stars. We’ll watch their games and see their strengths and weaknesses. But we’ll also play our own game I’m sure. We’re deadly on the counter.”
He added: “Yes, it’s the best [side he's played in at Maritzburg] I’ve seen so far. This season I hope we can win some silverware.”
