A group of Kaizer Chiefs fans are planning to march to Naturena next week in protest of the club's indifferent performances this season.
On Friday the hashtag #KaizerChiefsProtest began to trend on social media with the attention quickly pushing it up to the most engaging topic on South African Twitter.
Several of the posts that suggested a march would take place were accompanied by a specific image that's now been shared by thousands of Amakhosi supporters online.
It's been suggested that a memorandum drawn up by the fans will be handed over to management after their match at the club's official headquarters, with an official date reportedly set for May 14.
Chiefs supporters are believed to be disgruntled by the club's management after dropping outside of the top eight after the defeat to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila this week, while they are now in their sixth season without silverware.
The Soweto giants have confirmed they are aware of the plans, with the 'peaceful protest' already said to have been agreed upon with the Johannesburg Metropolice Department (JMPD).
"The club has been made aware of the planned march but we haven't got further details. Appropriate steps will be determined next week," club communications officer Vina Maphosa tells snl24.com/kickoff.
Chiefs are set to face Simba SC in the CAF Champions League quarter-final first leg tie at FNB Stadium next Saturday, May 15.
