The Buccaneers’ 1-0 win against SuperSport United last night, coupled with Chiefs’ 0-0 stalemate against Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday, means that, for the first time in 2012/13, the defending League champions are top of the table.
Still, Chiefs veteran Josta Dladla tells snl24.com/kickoff they are focusing on their own game rather than the chasing pack.
“I don’t think about Pirates man,” he says. “I’m thinking about what Chiefs are doing, what my teammates are doing. Whatever Pirates does, that’s Pirates and as for us, we have to take it one game at a time.
“If we win the League that’s a bonus and that’s what we are striving for … to bring back the glory.”
Reflecting on the game against Sundowns, Dladla says: “A point away is not that bad. Some of the teams will want to take us down from the top, but it comes with the territory. Every game is not gonna be easy for Kaizer Chiefs. We have to go out there and fight.”
The last time Chiefs won the League title was in the 2004/05 season.
