Namibian goalkeeper Virgil Vries has negotiated his way into being ready to play again after almost two on the sidelines due to injury.
The misfortune of injury has forced the former Kaizer Chiefs and Swallows keeper Virgil Vries to dig deep into his pockets since the beginning of 2022 to undergo knee surgery.

Vries last played in September 2021 while at Swallows but has now linked up with Motsepe Foundation Championship club La Masia where he has Moeneeb Josephs as his goalkeeper coach.
The 34-year-old – who has been 'medically cleared' since April – is now hoping to revive his career in the new season with piles of his experience on his back having done also done duty for Baroka, Maritzburg United, Carara Kicks, and Golden Arrows before through his time in South Africa.
"We looked at a few areas that we felt we could have improved on from last year and so we felt we needed a little bit of more experience in the goalkeeping department," says Nazier Baker, the La Masia chairman.

Baker also explains the matter relating to the presence of experienced coach Cavin Johnson at the club.
"With Mr Johnson, he has been guiding us with his wealth of experience.
"So, he is doing it pro bono because he is from the community.
"He is not even full time with the team in assisting us and does it during his spare time.
"He is not even contracted to the team or anything," explains Baker.
