Last night the news broke of Tshehla passing on in a car crash en-route to visiting his family in Mpumalanga. City's players were given time off after losing 3-2 to Ubuntu in a Nedbank Cup last-32 tie in Cape Town last week Wednesday.
Tau, whose other sibling is Mamelodi Sundowns star Percy, says Tshehla was a people's person.
“He was always smiling and he was a people’s person. He was fond of everyone and even everyone in Mpumalanga was his friend,” Dumisani tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“Many people may not know this, but he was not my friend but he was my brother but with a different surname. He is followed by Percy, same father and same mother.
“My sister took care of him when he was growing up and there was a time when they wanted his ID and my mother’s ID was too far and then my sister helped out, and it is why he was using Tshehla as his surname.
“I’m sad, it’s very difficult to take.”
Another player in pain is Mondli Miya, who just reunited with Tshehla having previously played together at Witbank Spurs.
Rise and Shine signed Miya from National First Division side Real Kings in the January transfer window, and the Kaizer Chiefs academy graduate felt at home when he joined the club with Tshehla on his side again.
“I started to know Tshehla when I joined Witbank Spurs. I think it was 2010 and it is where we knew each other,” Miya explains.
“We continued to be friends after we were separated so I was looking to spend more time with him after a long time not seeing each other.
“So it has been two weeks since I’ve joined the club and I’ve always been with him. He left on Friday and he went home for our weekend off so it’s painful to me.
“The sad reality is that I knew I’d see him on the field even after he separated from club to club, but now I know for sure I won’t see him again.”
The 26-year-old Tshehla played eight games in all competitions for City since joining them last season.
