DStv Premiership match report Golden Arrows v TS Galaxy 18 December 2021

Golden Arrows and TS Galaxy shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in the DStv Premiership on Saturday afternoon.

Marlon Heugh, Marks Munyai, Given Msimango, Sihle Ndluli, Ethan Brooks, Wayde Lekay and Mthokozisi Mngomezulu kept their spots, as Arrows named Siboniso Conco as their only change.

It was the Rockets that struggled to get going earlier on and nearly trailed from a long ball by Lungelo Dube, but Nduduzo Sibiya drilled the resultant delivery wide.

That soon changed when Mngomezulu escaped the presence of Thabani Zuke to get a sight of goal, but in the end a wayward strike saw the forward missed target completely.

Abafana Besthende launched the last big chance of the first half minutes to the break, but Michael Gumede couldn't pounce as he misdirected the smart delivery.

The dominant first spell still prompted Arrows to a double change at halftime, with Lindokuhle Mtshali and Siboniso Cele brought onto the field of play.

Although the Rockets had their noses in front following 52 minutes when Lekay placed himself perfectly in the area to guide home a quick counter-attack.

The lead were cut out two minutes later after substitute Cele drilled a free-kick from close-range past the defence, beyond Heugh and into the back of the net.

Abafana Besthende were buoyed by the quick comeback and could've been ahead through Pule Mmodi a little later, but he went over from Mthokozisi Dube's ball.

The host were given a clear chance to go in front when a handball in the area inside the last ten minutes from a corner-kick led to a penalty-kick which Knox Mutizwa blazed over.

Galaxy began to find a lot of the ball in the closing exchanges, but they couldn't unsettle Abafana Besthende as the encounter finished all square.
