Dinaledi FC clinched third place in the inaugural DStv Compact Cup with a 1-0 win over Amabutho FC on Saturday afternoon.
After a substitute appearance last week, goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse started for Dinaledi with Lesedi Kapinga and Prince Nxumalo dropped in too as Bonginkosi Ntuli led Amabutho's attack.
The Dan Malesela-managed outfit hit the front in no less than three minutes when a delicate dink outside the area from Kapinga left goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwanwa stranded en-route to the net.
There were more bright moments that followed eight minutes later as a curler from a tight angle in the area by Gaston Sirino produced Mlungwana to an acrobatic tip.
It didn't stop there for the Mamelodi Sundowns attacker, who dropped a shoulder from the edge of the area just past the half-hour mark to curl over target.
Amabutho, who battled to get into rhythm much of the clash, had a telling moment to draw level through a teasing move by Pule Mmodi shortly before halftime but he was thwarted.

Within the second half and this a tournament that's influenced by the supporters, they brought on Hendrick Ekstein for Amabutho and Sicelokuhle Hlatshwayo for Dinaledi.
Pieterse was brought to action for the first time with ten minutes from the break through a point-blank save off Mmodi's blistering strike.
As substitutions happened on either end late on with Sipho Mbule and Gifto Motupa in for Dinaledi and Velemseni Ndwandwe and Thabani Zuke in for Amabutho, the tie became evenly balanced.
There were late drama when a foul by Pieterse saw Amabutho's appeal for a penalty scraped before substitute keeper George Chigova produced two telling saves leaving the clash to a close.
