Coastal United bagged a 3-0 victory over Dinaledi FC to progress to the final of the inaugural DStv Compact Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Cape Town City midfielder Thabo Nodada skippered Coastal, who featured Taariq Fielies and Nathan Sinkala amongst others while Gaston Sirino, Kermit Erasmus and Gift Motupa started for Dinaledi.
It was Coastal that settled the quickest eight minutes from the start when Ashley Du Preez volleyed in a loose ball from close-range after sloppy defensive work from their opponents.
Dinaledi were close to drawing the contest level moments after going behind through a cross-cum shot at the near post by Sirino, but the lanky frame of Oscarine Masuluke kept him out.
However, Coastal could've gone two goals up with the half-hour mark gone but Evidence Makgopa battered the crossbar through a teasing attempt.
As the action shifted from one end to the other, the host nabbed a second goal in the last eight minutes to halftime when Fielies came across a loose ball in the area and curled into the bottom-corner.
The start of the second half had substitutions on either side- some voted by the spectators who called on Coastal to introduce Sammy Seabi while Lesedi Kapinga entered for Dinaledi.
Dinaledi were a different outfit minutes from halftime with shots from Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo and Motupa only for Sirino to see his penalty-kick saved by Masuluke.
Coastal then grabbed a third inside the last 20 minutes when 16-year-old Luphumlo Sifumba played a quick one-two outside the area to go and find the far corner seconds after entering.
Matters turned for Coastal though this as defender Robyn Johannes got his marching orders towards the last ten minutes following an indiscretion.
Dinaledi looked for a positive finish in the closing exchanges with chances from Thabo Rakhale and Kapinga but neither capitalised and left Coastal to emerge victorious.
