Cyril Nzama reveals where Kaizer Chiefs can hurt Orlando Pirates in next Soweto Derby

Cyril Nzama was tactically impressed by Orlando Pirates in the last game but reveals where his former team Kaizer Chiefs can capitalise this weekend.

Buccaneers defender Mthokozisi Dube had to take an early shower in the Telkom Knockout quarterfinal last Saturday following his second booking on the day, but despite being one man down, Pirates managed to limit Chiefs' chances.

Amakhosi needed a penalty shootout to eliminate their rivals from the Telkom Knockout, a situation 'Skhokho' believes should have been managed properly.

"For now things are still going well for Chiefs but I think there are still maybe a few things we need to sort out," Nzama tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"For instance in the Pirates game I think we should have done better after Pirates were one man down and push more numbers [forward], but then we made it really difficult for ourselves because I thought maybe we will push, we will change the system to take defenders on.

"Okay at one stage the coach did that by substituting [Njabulo] Blom for [Bernard] Parker but there was not enough numbers to add, we kept on pumping balls up. For me sometimes Pirates were dealing with them very well you see. So we were supposed to change it just a little bit.

"Unfortunately football doesn't work like boxing because it's the results that count. But if it was about points like it happens in boxing... but Pirates tactically I think they were smart you see. So under the circumstances they were only ten but they managed to get to penalties, which for me I think we should have wrapped up the game just before 90 minutes.

"But we kept on doing things that we were not supposed to do... like the system maybe the coach should have noticed but he was cautious as well thinking maybe they can catch us on a counter-attack. But he saw everything, maybe in the following game there are things he will adjust and change.

"But it was good game for us, the supporters, because it had goals. Look, both teams started well, but tactically they were superior you understand? Up until you know somewhere somehow one coach would adjust to the system of the possession.

"Because Rhulani could see Chiefs' approach. They were playing one-twos then the balls would be put into the box. We couldn't push our full-backs more. But we managed it in the second half because we changed the strategy in pushing one more to make it 4-3-3.

"But I still say if the coach releases our full-backs we are going to create problems for Pirates."
