Chiefs comeback kings over Pirates & Downs?

Mamelodi Sundowns' championship pedigree is not in question, but where do they rank in rescuing points from losing positions this season after defeat to TS Galaxy?

If Sundowns did not have a healthy lead at the top of the table, there would have been question marks on the character and ability of their players to fight back after going a goal or two down.

The comeback spirit is always associated with teams that have the character to win titles.

Sundowns' strength in how they win matches lies with scoring first and controlling the game, as they have only won twice having conceded first in the league, in a 2-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs and comeback win over Magesi FC by the same scoreline.

Incredibly, they are yet to draw a game in the league this season.

The Brazilians could not come back to at least rescue a point twice this season in the Premiership, in defeats to Polokwane City and TS Galaxy, both by a 1-0 scoreline.

Title-challengers Orlando Pirates have also struggled to win games where they have conceded first or were behind, recording only one win coming from behind, in a 2-1 success over Chippa United in their first game of the campaign.

Jose Riveiro's men had no response after conceding first against Stellenbosch FC and Cape Town City in 1-0 losses and could not recover after conceding two early goals against Sundowns, eventually losing 4-1.

Astoundingly, Bucs have also not drawn any league game this term.

Kaizer Chiefs, at least comparing among the three big rivals, have shown the biggest fighting spirit, coming back from behind to beat Marumo Gallants 2-1.

They also were two goals down against Magesi and rescued a point in a 2-2 draw, salvaged a point after going behind in a 1-1 stalemate with TS Galaxy and beat Stellenbosch 2-1 after initially going behind in the first-round clash in January.

However, with six losses on the board, Amakhosi's Achilles heel has been their inability to control matches in both halves.
