Masandawana defeated Esperance de Tunis in the semi-finals, while Pyramids overcame Pirates to advance to the final.

DR Congolese striker Fiston Mayele was the standout performer, scoring twice in Pyramids' 3–2 aggregate win over the Buccaneers.

Mayele, who has been linked with a move to Pirates, has since revealed that one of his goals against the South African club was the highlight of his season so far.

He told Kora Plus: "My most important goal was against Orlando, especially the second goal in the final minutes — it wasn’t an easy goal and was decisive in securing our place in the final."

Speaking about the upcoming clash against Sundowns, Mayele said: "I feel incredibly happy. It’s a dream come true to be able to play in the CAF Champions League final.

"It's the first time for me and the team, and I think it’s fantastic that we get to play this match for the fans and the club.

"We want to write our names into the history of Pyramids. We’ll enjoy that night, but the main goal is to win."

"We are preparing with full strength for the match against Sundowns. Once that’s over, we’ll think about our remaining league match against Ceramica."
