Cape Town City confirm appointment of Eric Tinkler

City confirmed the exit of Riekerink on Friday after placing him under administrative leave two weeks prior due to a string of poor results ended their hopes of a top-three finish.

snl24.com/kickoff reported on May 5 that Tinkler looked set to return to the club to replace the Dutchman before the end of the season and the DStv Premiership club has now confirmed he'll oversee the last two games of the campaign.

"This has always been one of my favourite stadiums, I was part of the beginnings of the club, its first season and it ended up being a fantastic season," he said after signing a four-year contract.

"That will always stay in memory for a very long time. Now obviously the task has to be greater, I'm Eric Tinkler and I'm City FC."

Tinkler lifted the Telkom Knockout in his first stint with the Citizens prior to his move to SuperSport United in 2017, where he won the MTN8 - before stints with Chippa United and Maritzburg United.
