Breaking: Relegated PSL club up for sale!

KickOff can exclusively reveal that a PSL club relegated following the 2023/24 season has put their downgraded status up for sale!

Following consistent rumours that Moroka Swallows have opened talks with potential buyers for the sale of their DStv Premiership status, another club has found themselves in a similar fate for financial reasons.

The lack of sponsors for most professional clubs in the country has become a huge burden and after being relegated from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, news reaching KickOff's desk, from a well placed source, is that NB La Masia do not have intentions of playing in the ABC Motsepe League and have put their status up for sale!

La Masia had high hopes of staying in the National First Division after appointing former Orlando Pirates winger Daine Klate in October last. However, Klate was relieved of his duties in April this year and was replaced by Alzavian Van Rheede.

After hovering in the mid-table for the better part of the season, the Johannesburg-based outfit, however, were fighting relegation towards the end of the campaign and finished second-from-bottom on the standings.

La Masia made calculated efforts to remain in the NFD via the courts after approaching SAFA arbitration on two complaints against Marumo Gallants and Pretoria Callies following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.

The Westbury outfit brought a complaint before SAFA Arbitrator Nazeer Cassim that Gallants had utilized an ineligible player Thapelo Dhludhlu, who allegedly played for three clubs in one season, which is against the FIFA rules - a player can only player for two clubs in a season.

Dhludhlu, in addition to playing for Bahlabane Ba Ntwa had also played for Mpumalanga Football Academy and Mpumalanga Future United in the ABC Motsepe League.

However, the SAFA ruling did not result in the forfeiture and gaining of points after Cassim's sentence only contained a reprimand and the bearing of legal costs by Gallants.

La Masia also has a pending case against Pretoria Callies before Cassim which was postponed for more evidence, as reported in local media, as they accuse The Romans player Xolani Sithole of forging his date of birth from 1997 to 2001, which made him play as an Under-23 player.
