HT: Pirates 1-0 Stellenbosch

Orlando Pirates lead Stellenbosch FC 1-0 after the opening 45 minutes in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday.

Pirates welcomed back Oswin Appollis in place of Patrick Maswanganyi following the MTN8 clash with Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, while Stellies had Siviwe Nkwali back from suspension.

Appollis nearly marked his recall in style three minutes when he linked up with Relebohile Mofokeng wide of the area and rattled the upright from a tight angle.

Pirates made their dominance count minutes later as Kamogelo Sebelebele combined with Mofokeng outside of the area and fired into the top corner for his second goal in as many games.

The Buccaneers needed to make a substitution in the 20th minute after Deano Va Rooyen came off injured and was replaced by midfielder Sipho Mbule.

Sebelebele remained lively past the half-hour mark and came in on the right to deliver a cutback for Evidence Makgopa in the box, but the forward failed to profit.
