Sede Dion continued his impressive start to the Betway Premiership season as Golden Arrows rallied from behind to defeat Magesi FC 2-1 on Wednesday night.
Arrows gave a debut to goalkeeper Xolani Ngcobo and named young Andiswa Booysen in the match day squad, while the visitors gave a first start to new signing Nkanyiso Zungu as their sole change from the loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Magesi opened the scoring on ten minutes when a first-time pass from Thabang Sibanyoni released Mcedi Vandala, who comfortably beat Ngcobo.
The lead didn’t last as the host hit back immediately after a pin-point cross from the right by Siyanda Ndlovu fell kindly for Sede Dion, who needed no second invitation to grab his third goal in three games.
Dikwena seeked to regain the lead past the half-hour mark with a first-time header outside the area by Wonderboy Makhubu sailing wide of the upright.
However, Dikwena needed to alter their stall late in the half and removed goal-scorer Vandala, who had picked up an injury and introduced Kgothatso Mariba.
The Carling Knockout champions came into the second half fired up and nearly restored the lead with a header from Makhubu that flew just over the target.
Abafana Besthende didn’t stop probing and saw a snap shot on the edge of the area by Kamara cleared off the goal-line minutes later.
Both teams pushed for the winner in the final stages of the second half and applied numerous forward deliveries from all angles, but neither proved decisive.
Arrows, though, snatched the victory in added time when substitute Nqubeko Dlamini beat the offside trap to fire into the bottom corner.
