Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech admits his helmet affects his confidence

Cech fractured his skull during his former club Chelsea’s clash with Reading in October 2006, and has worn a helmet since making his return three months later.

"I would be more confident if I had it off," Cech told Tyden.

"Whether you like it or not, the helmet affects your surroundings.

"You have your ears covered and it makes hearing worse. But the doctor has forbidden me to take it off. I wouldn't get insurance!"

The 33-year-old admits it took him time to adjust to the rugby-styled scrum cap.

"Spatially, I was suddenly completely lost. As people began to shout, everything resonated through the helmet. I was totally confused. But I'm used to it now,” he said.
