AmaZulu refuse to rule out move for SuperSport United striker Thamsanqa Gabuza

The 34-year-old has so far this season scored three goals in eight matches.

Gabuza joined SuperSport from Orlando Pirates in 2019 and has since established himself as an important member of Kaitano Tembo's Matsatsantsa squad.

The Newcastle-born Gabuza has recently been strongly linked with a return to his home province of KwaZulu-Natal in the January transfer window.

According to sources close to the two clubs, initial talks have already begun at a possible deal.

"I think if things become official, you will be the first to know."

Pressed further on whether Gabuza was a January target for AmaZulu, Zungu refused to rule out a possible move.

"I can't comment, I really can't comment. But when the time is right about possible players we're signing, about players we're releasing, or talking to, and most likely on players we've secured, you will be the first to know.

"I really can't say, but every transfer window is an important opportunity for the team to look at its depth.

"Players get injured, and the style of play seems to suit players who are not in a team that we are looking for. So every transfer window we'll always take stock."

Contacted for comment, Matsatsantsa CEO Stan Matthews insisted Gabuza was not for sale.

"No, he's not for sale," Matthews said.

"He remains a valuable member of our squad and is not for sale."
