The Premier Soccer League has released a breakdown in the prize money for all the 16 teams in the Absa Premiership.
PSL chairman Irvin Khoza revealed that the prize money for the winning team has now been increased by R5 million to R15 million, while there are also increases for sides that finish from number two to 16.
Khoza, meanwhile, could not confirm if there would be an increase in prize money for the PSL awards at the end of the season.
"That we will discuss at the end of the season. It's too early now. Let them perform and we'll see how they perform. We pay by results."
Here is the breakdown in prize money (old prize money in brackets)
1st – R15 million (R10 million)
2nd – R7.5 million (R5 million)
3rd– R3.75 million (R3 million)
4th – R2.5 million (R2 million)
5th – R1.8 million (R1.5 million)
6th – R1.56 million (R1.3 million)
7th – R1.32 million (R1.1 million)
8th – R1.2 million (R1 million)
9th – R885 000 (R750 000)
10th – R825 000 (R700 000)
11th – R750 000 (R650 000)
12th – R690 000 (600 000)
13th – R620 000 (R550 000)
14th – R565 000 (R500 000)
15th – R495 000 (R450 000)
16th – R440 000 (R400 000)
