Pirates advised on Chiefs weakness

An ex-Orlando Pirates star well known for his back heels and tireless runs in midfield has identified a big weakness from Kaizer Chiefs ahead of Saturday's Soweto Derby 'starter' for next weekend's Nedbank Cup 'main meal' showdown.

Both Chiefs and Pirates will enter the gates of the hallowed Soccer City having struggled for results in recent times.

Thabo Mngomeni believes the Buccaneers have a slight advantage over their arch-rivals.

"When it comes to the Soweto Derby, it doesn't matter who has been winning or losing, especially considering the current form of both teams," says 'Jahman'.

"Chiefs are in trouble on the league table and are desperate for a win. They really need these three points. Unfortunately, their desperation might work against them.

"On the other hand, while we as Pirates are not as desperate, we still need the three points.

"The fact that both teams will face off again in a cup final has no impact on this derby. The atmosphere of the derby will always be unique.

"No player will hold back their energy. A derby is a completely different experience.

"However, after everything, I believe Pirates will emerge as the winners," he continues.

Mngomeni says Jose Riveiro's men need to capitalise on the crisis that their opponents are currently facing having slumped to 11 league defeats.

"The biggest letdown for Chiefs will be their backline. Their concentration level is very low, and that backline won't be able to handle the speed of the young Pirates players."
