‘Somebody was sold a R11 ticket’

In this edition of Supporters Forum, prominent Orlando Pirates supporter Jwara-Bucs discusses the ticket crisis surrounding the highly anticipated Nedbank Cup final.

The dysfunctional ticketing system has left both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs supporters stranded for the showpiece set for Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

"Most people started queuing for tickets 24 hours before they went on sale. What's so painful is that we were informed the ticket system was not functioning well. We waited for the organizers to update us, but to our surprise, the next announcement was that 'the tickets are sold out.' Can you imagine?" said a bemused Jwara-Bucs.

"All of this happened while we were waiting for someone to inform us if the ticket system was operational again. As supporters' branches for both clubs, we couldn't secure any tickets.

"Who exactly bought the tickets? The only information revealed in the media briefing was that tickets were purchased by people from Mpumalanga, Gauteng, and KwaZulu-Natal.

"It's strange that individuals who have supported these teams since the Last 32 will now miss the final. We have many questions and still no answers. It's puzzling that neither team provided us with an update on what happened to the tickets.

"Since last week, Pirates and Chiefs supporters have been camping outside Computicket outlets. On Monday, people were queuing as early as 04:00 for tickets.

"There was even a case where someone was sold a ticket that had a printed cost of R11.00. I don't know if the system was hacked or what happened there.

"As Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs supporters, we are still owed a formal apology because the entire situation was a disaster," added the passionate supporter.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
