REVEALED | Why Kwame Peprah loan has not worked out...

Ghana forward Kwame Peprah's move to Maritzburg United was meant to have revived his fortunes after his struggles for game time at Orlando Pirates during the first half of the season.

It hasn't worked out that way.

Peprah scored on debut for Maritzburg against AmaZulu in February giving hope that this could work out perfect but with the league campaign over for the club, the 22-year-old has found himself with more reasons to worry.

A single goal in 10 appearances for a struggling club whose relegation fate is hanging in doubt now is nothing to be proud of and it is no surprise that there is already talk of that Pirates will cash in on him when he returns.

Tanzania giants Simba have expressed interest.

"The truth is that we will be trying to explore the market," says one Peprah's associates based in Ghana.

"If we get something good for Kwame then we need to try and move him.

"His finances are not that good, so he needs to get a bit of more money.

"Bottom line is that Kwame needs to go to a team where he will get playing time," says the source.

Peprah will complete his second year in the books of Pirates at the end of this campaign though he has been out on loan at Maritzburg United since the beginning of the year.

At Pirates during the first half of the season, the forceful forward had no goal in six appearances with his limited game time then leading to his request for a move which was the granted via a loan.

Instead of improving on his first season output of nine goals in 38 appearances, he then became a mere shadow at Pirates this season before moving out on loan in January.

His reunion with Fadlu Davids has failed to provide the spark and his time in the PSL could be over.

"This is not a case of Kwame not being a good player but rather a matter of that he lost his confidence.

"This happens to players sometimes.

"He lost his confidence and that was the reason why he hasn't been getting playing time of late at Maritzburg.

"We spoke to Fadlu (Davids) and he told us that as things stand now Kwame has lost his confidence and he needs to just get back to himself.

"When they needed him the most, the team kept sinking after having started well by scoring on debut.

"Then when his confidence was going the team was also sinking in the relegation zone.

"We would like to explore options in Swedem, Switzerland, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, and Tanzania.

"The issue is that Kwame's recent form hasn't been good.

"It happens to the best of players that they struggle to score but there is still hope for him because he is 22.

'He still has another year at Pirates, so it is up to them to decide.

"Pirates have done well without Kwame, and I don't know if Pirates will recall Kwame, but we would want him to take up a new challenge," says the contact.
