Seat still available for Mofokeng at Al Ettifaq

The reported interest in Relebohile Mofokeng by Al Ettifaq is alive with the Saudi Pro League club still having foreign space for the Orlando Pirates winger.

Ettifaq recently completed the signing of Mohau Nkota and have now set their sights on Mofokeng.

Saudi publications have reported extensively on Ettifaq’s interest with initial bids having already been turned down by Pirates.

It is said Bucs are bargaining on higher evaluation with considerable sell-on clauses.

Mofokeng had 12 goals and 15 assists in 49 appearances last season and in the 89 appearances that he has made at the club, he has totalled 40 goal contributions.

Transfermarkt has placed his transfer value at 1,6 million Euro (approx. R33 million).

Ahead of the PSL end-of-season awards, the 20-year-old has been nominated for the Footballer of the Season, Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season, MTN8 Last Man Standing, and the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player.

With all the issues relating to how his transfer will pan out, Ettifaq have kept a place open for Mofokeng’s arrival as per the regulations governing the money-rich league.

The Saudi Pro League allows clubs to register 10 foreign players.

Eight of those players can be of any age, while two players must be aged 21 or younger.

Nkota has taken the age group slot which Mofokeng will still qualify for, though the club already has Portuguese youth international Joao Costa (20).

Only eight players can be made available for league matches, while all 10 can be selected for the cup competitions.

Besides Nkota, Ettifaq currently have Georginio Wijnaldum (Dutch), Moussa Dembele (French), Jack Hendry (Scottish), Alvaro Medran (Spanish), Costa (Portuguese) and the Slovak pair of Marek Rodak and Ondrej Duda.
