Orlando Pirates striker Augustine Mulenga hoping to eclipse former Zambian stars

Mulenga, who scored a stunning goal against Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday, said he wants to be remembered at the club, as is the case with Lota, Chansa and Mutapa.

The late Lota, in particular, was adored by Pirates supporters and they gave him the nickname “Chesa Mpama” because of how he celebrated his goals.

"What my fellow Zambians did for this club is a big achievement and I'm looking to achieve more from what they did for the club," Mulenga said.

"It is my time now and I have to do what I can to achieve what I want in my career."

Having said that, Mulenga added he is not putting himself under pressure.

"I don't have any pressure because I'm a striker and my job is to score goals. So if I have the opportunity to score I just have to score goals."

With Zambia legend Kalusha Bwalya and national team coach Wedson Nyirenda having spoken highly about him, Mulenga added that he takes their advice.

"They know what I can do, and they believe in me. I follow their advice they give me. They said I must push myself in training.”
